Thanksgiving is now behind us and as we look toward the Christmas season are always looking for unique things to do as a family or with friends. Franklin Tennessee certainly loves to celebrate the holiday season so here’s what’s coming up this December 2017 around Franklin.
Studio Tenn’s “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Breaking away from the traditional Nutcracker Studio Tenn is putting on their own production of CS Lewis’s critically acclaimed of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This is deemed one of the 100 greatest novels of all times and it’s a perfect opportunity to take audiences to work never seen before. This winter wonderland begins Friday, December 1 at 7:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 PM.
Jars of Clay family Christmas show is happening at the Factory at Franklin on Friday, December 1 at 7:00 PM. This will be an evening of music and readings with friends and family at the Liberty Hall at the Factory.
Battle of Franklin Illumination. On November 30, the Battle of Franklin Trust hosts their annual illumination were 10,000 luminaries are laid out to represent the 10,000 casualties from the Battle of Franklin in 1864. This is a free event and if you’ve never seen it before, this is certainly a sight to behold. It’s from 4 PM to 7 PM on the 30th.
Dickens of a Christmas is holding their 33rd annual street festival in downtown Franklin on December 9 and 10th. This will feature ice-skating rink in downtown Franklin, Victorian architecture and 200 musicians, dancers and characters will fill the streets from the Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol. There’s so much to do and see from starting on Saturday, December 9 from 10 AM to 4 PM with the ice-skating rink staying up until 9 PM and on December 10 from 11 AM until 4 PM at the Great American Main Street in downtown Franklin.
Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Franklin from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on December 1. This is a great way to kick off the holiday season with choirs, music, and a multimedia extravaganza.
The Franklin Kiwanis Christmas parade is on December 2 from 2 PM to 3:30 PM wandering the streets of historic downtown Franklin. This community celebration has been around for years and it’s a great way to kick off the Christmas season.
Holiday story time with the Sugarplum Fairy on December 9 from 1 PM to 2 PM at the Williamson County visitor center on 400 Main St., Suite 130 in Franklin. You’ll hear the classic tale of the Nutcracker told by the sugarplum fairy herself.
Holiday story time with Elsa and Olaf on December 16 from 1 PM to 2 PM also at the visitor center.
The Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt is located on the eastern flank of the Battlefield Park on December 8. The grounds are sprinkled with candy canes ready to be eaten so grab your flashlight and help us hunt for the treasures.
