Franklin Tennessee is part of the Williamson County school district and the Franklin School District. Williamson is a K – 12 school district with approximately 38,000 students. There are a total of 44 schools within the district, 10 high schools, nine middle schools, 24 elementary schools and one K – 8 school. There are 8 schools in the Franklin School District with about 3,700 enrolled students.
The Franklin Special School District is located 14 miles south of Nashville in the heart of Franklin. The school district provides student individuality and introduces innovative and exciting new programs into the curriculum each year. There are also more opportunities; middle school students have the opportunity to participate in the Duke University Talent Search and students in grades 7 and 8 can take high school credited courses in algebra I, geometry, French or Spanish earning them up to 3 high school credits. Approximately 65% of the district’s faculty hold a Masters degree or higher. The district physical education program is recognized on both state and national levels as a model program. There are special academic programs including the Honors program for gifted and talented students and the district is also committed to early childhood education and has prekindergarten classes in all of the elementary schools.
Nearly all of Franklin Tennessee’s schools are rated 7 out of 10 or higher by great schools.org. Poplar Grove middle school was rated the top school in the area followed closely by Freedom Intermediate and Moore Elementary.
Because of these high ratings, Franklin is a very popular place in Williamson County to live. Students can attend any school in the district regardless of their zone.
